Constructing a full-scale replica of the Sutton Hoo burial ship is truly remarkable. Employing traditional building techniques adds complexity and magnificence to the project, especially considering the lost shipbuilding skills that are being rediscovered. The scarcity of the required wood further enhances the challenge. Witnessing this nearly impossible project gradually taking shape is truly astonishing and beautiful.

Situated in Woodbridge, The Long Shed is a contemporary maritime heritage center nestled by the River Deben, close to the Woodbridge Tide Mill. It acts as a focal point for boat-building endeavors, such as the restoration of the renowned Sutton Hoo ship, a replica of the 90-foot Anglo-Saxon burial vessel found in the vicinity. Beyond being a workshop, The Long Shed functions as a visitor center where individuals can delve into the maritime history and craftsmanship of the region. Its combination of historical importance and interactive displays provides a distinctive perspective on traditional boat-building methods and the cultural legacy of the area.
